13 GIRLS CLUB FESTIVAL INFORMATION
Each year, all Field Hockey clubs in BC are invited to attend Field Hockey BC’s (FHBC
) Club Festivals and Championships. These are hosted in different locations and offer an excellent opportunity for participants to travel with a team and play against other clubs from around the province. FHBC
organizes a Club Festival for the U13 age group, a participation-focused event where standings and scores are not intended to be kept.
Club Festival Format
The U13 age group (birth yr. 2005, 2006) will be playing Hockey 5’s (5 a-side) on quarter field as this mini-game format is seen as the most appropriate developmental structure for field hockey at this stage of learning and aligns with Field Hockey Canada’s Long Term Hockey Development Plan.
• Team Size – 8 players
• The schedule and number of games at the Festival has yet to be finalized
• Travel on Saturday morning.
Club Festival General Information:

Player Eligibility and Assessment Process:
All participants are required to participate in at least one of the assessments to be considered for selection to a team. The assessments are a good experience for all, as these types of session will increase throughout the participant’s athletic life.

Preference may be given to VJFHA

Player Cost and Responsibilities:
Although this tournament is an additional opportunity outside the regular league season the Victoria Junior Field Hockey Association is committed to supporting the teams by covering: turf costs for assessments, FHBC
team entry fee and individual team shirts.
All participants selected to a team will be responsible for their own transportation (vehicle/ferry), accommodation and meal costs. In
addition, each participant will be required to pay a Club Festival player fee of $75-$100 to cover additional team costs, including but not limited to:
o Practice turf fee (three 1-hour sessions)
o Travelling umpire and non-parent coach travel subsidies o Team socks (if applicable)
o Team snacks and incidentals
These fees are due in full at the first Club Festival training session, payable by cheque to “Victoria Junior Field Hockey Association”.
To ensure fairness, the number of practice sessions will be equal. The Association is committed to support three 1-hour practice times for each club festival/championship team. To minimize additional costs it is expected that teams share turf time. In some cases, it will be expected that practice times are shared.
